Resolution to Ensure a Speedy Treason Trial for Jefferson Davis (1866)

On April 9, 1866, Republican Congressman Henry Raymond (R-NY) introduced this resolution, and it was referred to the House Judiciary Committee.

On June 11, the House approved George Boutwell’s resolution “that said Davis should be held in custody as a prisoner, and subjected to a trial according to the laws of the land.”
